Getting a listing removed

Short version: ask, and it comes off. You do not have to prove who you are, verify the account, or explain yourself.

How to ask

Write to hello@rankcost.com with the link to the page. That is the whole procedure. We answer within two working days and remove it the same day we answer.

Why the listings exist in the first place

Almost every listing here was built from public data before anyone asked us to. The people come from Wikidata, the follower counts and avatars from the platforms themselves. Nobody opted in, and most people listed do not know about this site. We think a public leaderboard of public figures is fair; we also think anyone who disagrees should be able to leave without an argument. Both of those can be true.

What removal actually does

The page stops existing and returns a "gone" status, so search engines drop it. The account disappears from every board it was on. If anyone had paid for that listing, the payments stay recorded for accounting, but the ranking they bought is gone and no new payment can be made.

Removal is permanent in the sense that we will not re-add the same account from a later data import. If you change your mind, write again.

If money was involved

If somebody paid to boost an account and the person that account belongs to asks for removal, the removal wins. The payer bought a position on a leaderboard, not a right to keep somebody listed. We do not refund it — the rules say plainly that boosts are final — but the listing still goes.

The alternative, if you would rather stay

You can claim the profile instead. It is free, it costs a minute, and it lets you correct the data, switch off boosts from other people, and see how much traffic we send you. Removal is always available if you decide against it later.
